I think people should be allowed to wear fur and whatever else they want. It's a choice. Going back to the time of cavemen, humans have been wearing animals skins as clothing. While humans have made advancements and evolved, they still enjoy the fashion and warmth of real fur and should be allowed to make that choice on their own.
I kind of straddle the fence when it comes to fur. I love fur and think it is so beautiful, however we should not hunt animals to near extinction for a luxury. Fur is not a neccessity for us. Animals need their fur for survival. I would feel differently if we were hunting a animal for food and using the fur because it was left over. Most animals used for mainstream food consumption do not have fur.
like any another necessary evil the fur trade will always be around. this argument comes down to supply and demand. there always be enough people who either provide the supply or create the demand. on a lighter note, without real fur what would faux fur imitate?
Native Americans used fur to sheild themselves from the cold, but they also used all the other parts of the animal as a means of survival. Fur in present day society is a luxury, not a necessity. People spend thousands of dollars on an item that has caused severe cruelty to animals, just so they can look good.
The fur trade is a worldwide industry dealing in the acquisition and sale of animal fur. Since the establishment of world market for in the early modern period furs of boreal, polar and cold temperate mammalian animals have been the most valued. Historically it had a large impact on the exploration and colonization of Siberia, northern North America and the South Shetland and South Sandwich Islands. Today the importance of fur trade has diminished and is currently centered around fur farms and authorized wildlife hunting, but remains controversial due to the cruelty involved and conflicts with the tourism industry. Several animal rights organizations oppose the fur trade, while supporters often cite their methods as not being cruel, that the animal populations are abundant and their rights to practice a traditional lifestyle should be respected. The use of fur on some items today has been partly substituted by synthetic imitations.
My previous critique of your blogging stands. You have more than the required number of posts, but you need to make them much more thorough in order to be persuasive.
